Company, Halt!

As you may have noticed, I haven't put a 'Leipzig project' update up recently. This is mainly because I have a lot of miniatures to paint and because I had some other activities lately. So I've decided to halt the Leipzig project for a couple of weeks and focus on making a small ambush-like diorama first.

But first, there is some research to be done. If you want to make a historically accurate diorama of a small skirmish, it becomes quite difficult, this has one simple reason: On the internet and in books you can find a lot of information about Napoleonic military history and all the major battles are recorded in history books, but in order to get information about a small skirmish, it is the exact opposite of that.

A small skirmish is only interesting for history if it has any military significace, which it hasn't in my case. ;-) Besides, minor battles like that are only memorable for people who took part, whom are all dead because it is 200 years ago, and for people who live in the area where it took place, if they know local history ofcourse.

I should stop blabbering now.

A minor battle in the surroundings of a small town called 'Mir'. I was a bit larger than I first though when I read about it, but that's ok! I'll give you a link to wikipedia so you get the idea.

anyway, it's a minor battle between the Russian and Polish forces. I have a lot of Uhlans from Zvezda so that's one good thing. The only thing I need now is gather some maps of the area. This can be quite difficult but I'll update on that one later on.

I'll continue painting now!

M..m..must p..paint miniatures!
